Meta - Engineering Fair
Role: Art Director
Scope: Event creative direction, environmental design, cross-functional alignment, internal communications
Overview
Led creative direction for Meta’s Engineering Fair, an internal event bringing together over 3,000 employees to explore innovations across AI, Reality Labs, and infrastructure.
The experience was designed to translate complex engineering work into accessible, engaging moments that reinforced Meta’s technical vision and internal culture.
The Challenge
The Engineering Fair brought together a wide range of teams, each showcasing highly technical work with different goals, formats, and levels of storytelling maturity.
The core challenge was creating cohesion and clarity at scale:
Unifying diverse engineering content into a consistent experience
Making complex systems and technologies approachable and engaging
Aligning multiple teams around a shared standard for presentation and storytelling
Ensuring the event reflected both innovation and engineering culture
My Role
I led the creative direction of the event, focusing on both experience design and cross-functional alignment:
Defined a cohesive visual and experiential system across all exhibits
Partnered with engineering teams to translate technical work into clear, digestible narratives
Guided teams on how to present their work in a way that balanced depth and accessibility
Facilitated alignment across orgs to ensure a consistent and high-quality experience
Key Contributions
Established a unified creative framework across AI, Reality Labs, and infrastructure showcases
Elevated technical demos into more engaging, story-driven experiences
Created consistency across environments, improving overall clarity and navigation
Helped teams communicate not just what they built, but why it mattered
Outcome
Delivered a cohesive event experience that enabled over 3,000 employees to better understand the breadth and impact of Meta’s engineering work.
The structured approach improved how teams presented their innovations, resulting in a more engaging and accessible experience across the event.
Reflection
This project reinforced that effective design in technical environments is about translation and alignment.
By helping teams communicate complex ideas more clearly, we not only improve understanding—we strengthen connection to the work and the people behind it.
